Final Assignment of Writing II (The Small Colleges for Foreign Students)

Attending a small college has several advantages for foreign students, now I will tell you about those advantages. First, the tuition’s cost of small colleges will be cheaper  than the bigger colleges, the chances to get a scholarship will be bigger too since the competition is not as big as the big college, the other factor is that you can doing some part-time works while studying because small college permitted their students to have part-time jobs, and by attending small college you will need less outcome for your study because the expenses will be lower. Second, attending small college It could be more comfortable for foreign country’s students, why? Because the numbers of students will be lower so that the class or the campus itself won’t be so packed with people, it will be easier for foreign students to blend in and socialize because of the smaller number of students. It will help the students to build a closer relationship by physical and emotional approaches, there will be no extravagant events since the number of students is limited, and the professors (lecturers) can be more focus on their duties to teach rather than doing researches or such, the possibilities for students and professor collaboration will be opened too. However, another good part is that the professor will be always available whenever you want to consult your problems or when you want to have serious discussions. The third advantages is about the flexibilities of smaller colleges if we compare it to any big college, most of small colleges in Indonesia are more flexible about their systems, the system of the bureaucracy is clear and not too complicated even for foreign students. The schedule can be arranged while you can choose what programs (lessons) that you want to study and which you won’t, it will be easier to have make-up class or extra class by just having appointment with the certain professor. So from my personal point of view, the foreign student will gain several advantages by attending a small college. Those advantages are the cost of the tuition that  will be cheaper, the condition of the environment  they will study on will be more comfortable and of course the situation of the study will be more relaxed, and the system of the campus will be easier to understand and more flexible so that there will be no problem with the lessons or the bureaucracy.

Crowds of FBS’s Lobby

My campus is known as the Faculty of Language and Art or FBS for short, the FBS’s lobby is always full of activities which make it very crowded, it’s so crowded because of the students activities and the administrative business of the campus. Everyday, many students use the lobby as place to do their assignments and sometimes they disturb the other people there because of their noises and actions. They uses the Lobby’s Wi-Fi connections to find entertainments or to do their assignments, and it’s common to see the students playing games or watching movies, they also laughs and yells loudly to the extent that they disturb the other people nearby, many students formed groups while recharging their gadgets or when they doing their assignments but they pay no attention about their surroundings so the wires are everywhere and its really disturbing the public safety, students who doing their assignments prefer to sit on the floor because of limited number of seats available, its caused the uncomfortable feeling for the following students and the people surrounds them. Moreover, some people use the lobby as a spot to have snacks but then they throw away their rubbish randomly, many students just throw their rubbish or leaving many things behind so it makes the Dean, the lecturers and the staff angry. The FBS’s lobby has a limited number of seats so when there are so many people who doing their activities at the lobby, some people just sitting on the floor and it disturbs the other people who want to pass by. In short, the FBS’s Lobby is always crowded because there are so many activities take place there, it’s usually used by the students to do their assignments  and to do another various things, but because of our own actions the lobby turn into a messy place where rubbish scattered up over here and there. It makes us feel uncomfortable and makes the Dean, the lecturers and other staffs angry. As student we need to pay more respect and attention to our facility so we will not get any problem when we used it, we need to be more careful about our actions so that people will feel more comfortable when they entered the lobby.  After all, the FBS’s Lobby is ours, so it is our duty and responsibilities to take care of it.
